Samples of my work

Design work

I have designed the pages and wrote headlines for these section fronts:

bodyart tar-onehappeningnight

To see more of my work, including my writing clips, here is my portfolio and résumé in PDF format:

SuzanneYada Portfolio Online Mid v3

In addition, as part of my internship, I have helped The Public Press, an ad-free nonprofit news organization, with designing a fundraising brochure and mailing campaign (download the PDF here). I created the concept and executed the graphic with Photoshop:

Published clips

  • Here is a list of stories I have written for the Spartan Daily at San Jose State University.
    • Highlight: Group attempts to break down budget crisis, published 9/28/09
  • Here is an article (in PDF format) on a Mormon student at SJSU that I wrote for Access Magazine, Fall 2008.
  • This is an article I wrote on live music and the economy, published Sept. 12, 2008, in Exploring Central Valley Downtowns, a quarterly publication inserted into the Visalia Times-Delta.
  • This is a profile I wrote on the CEO of the Downtown Visalians and Alliance, for the same Exploring Central Valley Downtowns issue.

There will be more clips uploaded soon.

Blogs and social media

In addition to this Web site:

  • I use Twitter to share journalism-related links and information here.
  • I host CollegeJourn, a chat for journalism students that takes place every Sunday from 8-10 p.m. ET at CollegeJourn.com.
  • I blog for Tomorrow’s News, Tomorrow’s Journalists, which brings a collection of young journalism bloggers together to talk about a monthly topic.
  • I write for sanjose.metblogs.com, a part of the Metroblogging network that focuses on hyperlocal coverage in 56 cities. There are currently six authors based in San Jose, and I am covering the San Jose State and the downtown areas.
  • I practice link journalism on the subject of the media through my Publish2 account (which also posts to my Delicious account).
  • As a former dining columnist in Visalia, I have written a dining blog at visaliatimesdelta.com.
